The Opportunity:
Hudbay Minerals Inc. is seeking a Financial Superintendent to drive continuous improvement within our accounting and reporting team. In this role, you will be crucial in ensuring our Manitoba Business Unit (MBU) consistently meets its financial and statutory obligations, while also maintaining the SRP for reporting and tax calculations.
Work Location
You'll have the flexibility to choose your work arrangement: either work remotely with occasional travel to our site, or relocate to the vibrant community of Flin Flon, Manitoba.
Compensation & Benefits
We offer a competitive salary of $131,000 - $145,000 (depending on experience), a 30% incentive bonus as well as a $11,000 remote premium. Our comprehensive compensation package also includes:

If you're required to travel to site, Hudbay will cover all expenses. For those who choose to relocate, relocation packages are available.
Role Responsibilities:
As a Financial Superintendent, you'll be vital in optimizing our financial operations and ensuring compliance. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Planning and Advice: Collaborate with the Controller of Finance to contribute to and align with financial plans.
- Short Range Planning (SRP): Review the SRP model and conduct initial reviews of management reports.
- Month-end Close: Coordinate and review MBU financial reporting, including sales, cost of sales, ROU, and capital, to ensure accurate and timely month-end close and conduct first-level reviews of quarterly corporate reporting packages.
- Forecasting and Budgeting: Coordinate the review process for year-to-date capital and production forecasts and budgets.
- Production Accounting: Oversee and review production reporting for actuals, budgets, and forecasts.
- Compliance: Implement actions to ensure integrity, timely and transparent information flow, effective risk management, and sound controls. You'll also ensure compliance with all statutory requirements, legislation, regulations, policies, work standards, and governance, while maintaining internal control and SOx compliance.
- Other Reporting: Reviewer of other reporting including ESTMA and CSR Corporate Social Responsibility).
Professional Experience / Qualifications:
- CPA
- Undergraduate degree in Business.
- Experience in a complex accounting environment in a medium to large public corporation.
Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:
We're looking for a leader with a strong analytical mind and a deep understanding of financial reporting, cost accounting, and forecasting. You'll have:
- Excellent analytical skills with an inquisitive approach to problem-solving.
- Skilled knowledge of mining business functions, especially metal accounting.
- Proven ability to manage and develop a team, fostering a safe and continuously improving environment.
- Exceptional communication skills, and the ability to influence design requirements from various business units.
- The capacity to read and interpret reports, conduct analysis, anticipate problems, and develop corrective actions.
- Demonstrated skill in planning, setting targets, scheduling resources, and assigning work to optimize team effectiveness.
- A collaborative approach to recommending corrective actions based on monitoring conditions.
- Strong financial knowledge to develop and manage budgets.
- Proficiency in Excel and Ellipse.
