The Opportunity:

Hudbay Minerals Inc. is seeking a Project Tailings Coordinator for our Tailings facilities in Manitoba (both operational and under care and maintenance). This position will alternate between a Monday to Thursday (4/3) rotation with 10 hour days, and a 2 week on/2 week off rotation, depending on seasonal needs and project requirements.  Due to peak business operations from June 1 – August 31, employees are not eligible to take vacation time during this period unless otherwise approved by your manager/supervisor. Flexibility to work occasional overtime or extended hours is required. The position reports to the Chief Engineer and Operations Superintendent. 

 

The individual would be primarily responsible for the coordination of surface infrastructure, water management, and tailings related activities and projects at our Care and Maintenance / Closed Sites in Flin Flon and Snow Lake.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direction to Hudbay Trades Group and Contractors for various projects and tasks.
  • Manage Contractor’s completing work under the GeoEngineering and Tailings Department
  • Assist with planning and execution of dust suppression activities
  • Conduct project / site reconnaissance tours, capturing photos and documenting progress.
  • Communicate between all Departments affected by project and construction works.
  • Conduct RTK and Drone based surveys on various Sites around the Flin Flon Region.
  • Assist Operations Group with Dam Inspections as required.
  • Other duties as required.

 

Professional Experience / Qualifications:

  • Post-Secondary Education (Engineering preferred)
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Valid Canadian Boating License preferred
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
  • Competent with MS Office (Excel, Word, Gmail)
  • First Aid training, CPR Certificates. WHMIS Certification
  • Act in a manner that ensures the health and safety of yourself and others.  Identify and act to correct potential workplace hazards. Familiar with applicable workplace safety regulations.

Salary dependent on experience and qualifications

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From $92,500.00 per year
