The Copper Mountain mine currently produces approximately 100 million pounds of copper equivalent per year. With a future mill expansion and the integration of New Ingerbelle, the Copper Mountain Mine is expected to produce approximately 140 million pounds of copper equivalent per year over the first 20 years of its 32-year mine life based on reserves. The Opportunity:

 

Hudbay Minerals Inc. is seeking a Accounts Payable Analyst at our Copper Mountain Mine in Princeton, BC. This position is a 5x2, Monday to Friday, day shift schedule.

Accounts Payable Analyst

 

Location

Hudbay - Copper Mountain Operating Company, located near the town of Princeton, British Columbia at the center of the scenic Similkameen Valley. Princeton is a community-oriented town with a diverse offering of activities, especially for those who love the outdoors.  Princeton is also in close proximity to both the city of Vancouver and the Okanagan.

Summary

Reporting to the AP Lead, the Accounts Payable Analyst will provide full oversight of accurate and efficient processing all accounts payable transactions, processing payment runs and supporting the accounting department in other duties.

 

Responsibilities  

AP Analyst Tasks: Assist AP Admin with overflow of work:

  • Coordinates and assists with the accurate processing of vendor invoices,
  • Back up for payment run execution (EFT/wires/cheques),
  • Advise and resolve issues brought forth from suppliers and internal departments related to supplier invoice processing,
  • Assists AP Lead with journal entries for each month end,
  • Supports month end, quarter end, and year end close AP processes,
  • Process price and quantity mismatch issues for AP Lead review,
  • Process the VMI approved reports,
  • Preparation of vendor master change requests and new EFT setups, and organizes supplier and EFT setup/approval documents and scans and saves in accordance with SOx controls,
  • Assists AP Lead with posting wire payments in the system,
  • Process month end accrual report from Maximo/SAP each month to provide to accountants,
  • AP final reviewer for all non-goods invoices prior to payment,
  • Assist AP Lead with other tasks including wire preparation in the bank as needed, credits and prepayments, etc.

SOx and Internal Controls:

Execution of operationally effective internal controls over the BCBU AP process.

  • Accountable for ensuring that the appropriate approvals are received and documented for SOx..
  • Ensures appropriate documentation is maintained (manual and/or digital) and is available to auditors, for filing and document retrieval, 
  • Responds to auditor requests in a timely manner.

 

Compliance:

  • Have in place actions that will provide integrity, timely and relevant information flow, openness and transparency, effective risk management, and sound controls,
  • Take all necessary actions to ensure compliance with statutory requirements, legislation, regulations, policies, work standards, and governance.

 

 

Education & Experience

  • Diploma/Degree in Business Administration with accounts payable or similar experience,
  • Skilled knowledge in the use of required technology systems: SAP and Excel,
  • In-depth knowledge of AP processing,
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices,
  • Excellent communication skills, demonstrating professionalism in interactions both within the organization and with external stakeholders.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail,
  • The ability to solve problems and exercise good judgement and decision-making skills with minimal supervision,

  • Direct junior staff on daily tasks assignments and deadlines,
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and able to liaise with other departments as well as external parties,
  • Attention to detail in all areas of work.

Working Conditions

  • Frequent exposure to a team environment with regularly scheduled and ad-hoc meetings,
  • Frequent exposure to sitting at a computer doing work online,
  • Frequent exposure to lifting and moving items up to 50 pounds,
  • Rare exposure to uncomfortable conditions associated with the work environment such as working in noisy, dusty, and wet environments,
  • Required to meet pre-employment testing requirements.

Rate of Pay

$70K - $75K / annum.
