The Copper Mountain mine currently produces approximately 100 million pounds of copper equivalent per year. With a future mill expansion and the integration of New Ingerbelle, the Copper Mountain Mine is expected to produce approximately 140 million pounds of copper equivalent per year over the first 20 years of its 32-year mine life based on reserves. The Opportunity:
Hudbay Minerals Inc. is seeking an Asset Management Specialist at our Copper Mountain Mine in Princeton, BC. This position is a 5x2, Monday to Friday, day shift schedule.

Asset Management Specialist
Location
Copper Mountain Mine is located near the town of Princeton, British Columbia at the center of the scenic Similkameen Valley. Princeton is a community-oriented town with a diverse offering of activities, especially for those who love the outdoors. Princeton is also in close proximity to both the city of Vancouver and the Okanagan.
Summary
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Asset Management Specialist is responsible for crafting and implementing effective asset strategies, delivering efficient asset planning and strategic insights to optimize asset performance. It strives to ensure that Asset Management processes, systems and capabilities are sustainable. This is achieved by focusing on business process and system standardization, proactive collaboration, proficiency and capability development, relevant metrics and targeted value- adding asset lifecycle cost improvements.
Responsibilities
- Practices safe work behaviors and supports the Copper Mountain Mine safety culture through participation in daily and monthly safety meetings and initiatives,
- Provides reports and attends meetings to update on current activities,
- Support the definition, implementation and maintenance of Asset Management systems,
- Provide expertise to support development and management of standards and processes to achieve business plans and strategies,
- Implement and supervise data quality standards to ensure compliance,
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the department, with counterparts in the mine and fixed plant, and with vendors/contractors,
- Ongoing management and support and improvement of Asset Management’s systems,
- Support system upgrades, enhancements and implementations,
- Deployment and socialization of Asset Management related metrics to drive awareness of variances to standard processes,
- Work with counterparts to ensure completeness and accuracy of master data across systems according to relevant standards,
- Identifying opportunities for process improvement, waste removal, and cost reduction,
- Collaborate and support projects to implement Asset Management and short-term interval control processes and projects to optimize productivity and reduce operational costs,
- Support the implementation of innovations and new technologies throughout the company,
- Performs any other responsibilities related to the Asset Management specialist role as required or as assigned by the department head.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Certified Trades Certificate, or a related field,
- Maintenance Management Professional (MMP) or a Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) designation, or the ability to demonstrate equivalent experience would be considered an asset,
- Significant experience in heavy industry, with asset management experience,
- Solid understanding of end-to-end business processes,
- Sophisticated knowledge and understanding of CMMS (SAP preferred),
- Experience in Master data governance preferred,
- Possess a valid Class 5 or 7 driver’s license and have access to personal transportation,
- Required to meet pre-employment testing requirements.

- Clearly defining program objectives and scope,
- Evaluating and prioritizing potential improvements based on gains and required effort,
- Securing employee commitment (ex: process managers) for proactive change management,
- Establishing a clear and well-articulated implementation plan,
- Establishing criteria for the project’s success and preparing a sound statement of constraints/limiting factors,
- Appropriately implementing principles of governance,
- Identifying intervention priorities and indicators,
- Conducting detailed analysis of the current situation that accurately describes the issues,
- Specifying deliverables, outcome indicators, and performance-measured indicators,
- Regularly monitoring the implementation of solutions to achieve objectives and expected benefits,
- Strong analytical and complex problem-solving skills,
- Able to build and maintain relationships with other departments, site teams, key business partners, and other stakeholders,
- Effective leadership and influencing ability with operational, technical, and corporate staff,
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation and organizational skills,
- Conducts self in a professional manner and is adaptable and flexible to meet the needs of the role.
Working Conditions:
- Frequent exposure to a team environment with regularly scheduled and ad-hoc meetings,
- Frequent exposure to sitting at a computer doing work online,
- Rare exposure to working in adverse temperature conditions, both hot and cold,
- Rare exposure to uncomfortable conditions associated with the work environment such as working in noisy, dusty, and wet environments,
- Rare exposure to lifting and moving items and equipment up to 50 pounds,
- Work requires an obligation to take charge of crises that require quick reaction to maintain operating efficiency or people’s safety,
- Regular exposure to multiple priorities requiring scheduling changes and uncertainty in the work organization.
Salary Range
$109K - $120K /Annum
