The Opportunity:

 

Hudbay Minerals Inc. is seeking a Crane Operator at our Copper Mountain Mine in Princeton, BC. This position is a 7/7, 12-hour shift, Day shift / Night shift schedule.

 

Please note that this opportunity is NOT a fly-in-fly-out position.

Location

Copper Mountain Mine is located near the town of Princeton, British Columbia at the center of the scenic Similkameen Valley. Princeton is a community-oriented town with a diverse offering of activities, especially for those who love the outdoors.  Princeton is also in close proximity to both the city of Vancouver and the Okanagan.

 

Summary

Reporting to the Mine Shovel and Drill Supervisor, the mobile Crane Operator is responsible for full oversight of operating cranes such as crawler cranes, rough terrain cranes and boom trucks to lift, haul, and move loads throughout the mine site.

 

Responsibilities 

  • Operates cranes such as crawler cranes, rough terrain cranes and boom trucks in accordance with the mine procedures and standards,
  • Performs daily pre- and post-trip equipment inspections and reports any needed repairs on broken or improperly working equipment,
  • Conducts all activities safely and following all Copper Mountain Mine safety requirements and SOPs,
  • Performs other responsibilities related to the mobile Crane Operator role as required or as assigned by the department head.

 

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED),
  • Must be a red seal in mobile crane operator,
  • Possesses a valid Class 1/ 3 driver’s license and has access to personal transportation.

 

Required Skills

  • Effective communication during lifts using either hand signals or radio signals and interpersonal skills,
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision,
  • Ability to learn, be trained, and follow instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Required to meet pre-employment testing requirements.

 

Working Conditions

  • Work requires working in heavy industrial environments; this may have conditions that include adverse temperature conditions, both hot and cold; in and/or around moisture; walking on slippery and/or rough, uneven surfaces, in confined spaces; at heights; and involves climbing ladders and stairs,
  • Exposure to working outdoors in all weather conditions, operating a light vehicle at our operations, in various weather conditions and terrain, including winter driving,
  • Regular exposure to lifting and moving items and equipment up to 50 pounds.

 

Rate of Pay

$52.58 / hr.
