The Copper Mountain mine currently produces approximately 100 million pounds of copper equivalent per year. With a future mill expansion and the integration of New Ingerbelle, the Copper Mountain Mine is expected to produce approximately 140 million pounds of copper equivalent per year over the first 20 years of its 32-year mine life based on reserves. The Opportunity:

 

Hudbay Minerals Inc. is seeking a Crusher Supervisor at our Copper Mountain Mine in Princeton, BC. This position is a 7x7, 12-hour shift; Day shift / Night shift schedule.

 

Please note that this opportunity is NOT a fly-in-fly-out position.

Location

 

Copper Mountain Mine is located near the town of Princeton, British Columbia at the center of the scenic Similkameen Valley. Princeton is a community-oriented town with a diverse offering of activities, especially for those who love the outdoors.  Princeton is also in close proximity to both the city of Vancouver and the Okanagan.

 

Summary

 

Reporting to the Mill Operations Superintendent, the Mill Operations Crusher Supervisor is responsible for the safe and productive work of the team, helping to achieve goals and objectives set by the Mill Operations department.

 

Responsibilities 

  • Ensures site compliance with mining regulations and follows Copper Mountain Mine site’s safety, quality, and environmental standards in all aspects of work,
  • Follows Occupational Health and Safety, Mines Act, and Copper Mountain Mine’s standard operating procedures (SOPs),
  • Supervises, coordinates, and schedules the activities of workers,
  • Identifies, investigates, corrects, and documents potential environmental and safety problems,
  • Establishes methods to meet work schedules and coordinates work activities with other departments,
  • Resolves work problems and recommends measures to improve productivity and product quality,
  • Provides information for production plans to ensure that production objectives are met,
  • Requisition materials and supplies,
  • Trains staff in job duties, safety procedures and the Company’s policies and procedures,
  • Recommends personnel actions such as hirings and promotions,
  • Prepares production and other reports and develops and manages operating budget for area of responsibility,
  • Supervises, coordinates, and schedules the activities of trades workers, labourers or other workers, may be required,
  • Performs any other responsibilities related to the Crusher Supervisor, Mill Operations role as required or as assigned by the department head.   

 

Education & Experience

  • Current Mine Supervisor Certificate, or ability to obtain certification within 3 months,
  • Minimum of five (5) years of mill operations experience with at least one (1) year in a supervisory role, coupled with a proven track record of successfully leading a team in a processing environment,
  • High level of proficiency with Computer Applications including experience with computerized control room operating systems,
  • Possess a valid Class 5/7N British Columbia driver’s license and have access to personal transportation.

 

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:

 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, coupled with exceptional interpersonal skills,
  • Competent in filling out forms including transmittals, warehouse vouchers, timecards, expense forms and investigation forms,
  • Proven leadership and team-building capabilities and the foresight to recognize and overcome any potential challenges while effectively supervising the hourly staff and independent contractors,
  • Must work well in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and possess a strong work ethic,
  • Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with key business partners, and internal customers,
  • Must have the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc.,
  • Strong negotiation and prioritization skills,
  • Ability to attend and conduct presentations,
  • Provide proof of a valid Class 5/7N driver’s license.  

 

Working Conditions:

  • Occasional exposure to hazardous environments with the requirement of wearing protective equipment,
  • Frequent exposure to uncomfortable conditions associated with the work environment such as noise and working in dusty and wet environments,
  • Work requires heavy lifting, awkward positions, walking and standing,
  • Exceptional exposure to unfavorable working conditions associated with the work environment such as confined spaces, ladders, and/or rooftops,
  • Work includes manual dexterity to use desktop computers and peripheral devices,
  • Will be required to be clean-shaven.

 

Salary Range

 

$124K - $138K/ Annum
