The Opportunity

Hudbay Minerals Inc. is seeking a Disability Management Coordinator at our Copper Mountain Mine in Princeton, BC. This is a permanent position with a 4x3, day shift schedule.

Disability Management Coordinator

 

Location

Copper Mountain Mine is located near the town of Princeton, British Columbia at the center of the scenic Similkameen Valley. Princeton is a community-oriented town with a diverse offering of activities, especially for those who love the outdoors.  Princeton is also in close proximity to both the city of Vancouver and the Okanagan. 

Summary

Reporting to the Human Resources Superintendent - Workforce Management, the Disability Management Coordinator is responsible for the administration of Disability Management Programs at Hudbay Princeton Division, including Short-term Disability, Long-term Disability and Workers Compensation.  Oversees the Hudbay Princeton Division Modified Work Program and Workplace Accommodation Program. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, compile, review and provide information related to workplace injury and illness claims to internal stakeholders.

  • Provide WorkSafe BC with updated information as required on claims and regularly liaise with WorkSafe BC claim adjudicators and case managers.

  • Prepare appeal submissions.

  • Track associated claim costs.

  • Perform research to remain abreast of industry developments and current with the WorkSafe BC Act, regulations and associated policies.

  • Liaise with Department Heads as required to arrange employee return to work plans.

  • Provide department training and coaching on the management of workplace injuries and disability programs.

  • Oversee the Modified Work Program.

  • Work in conjunction with the injured employee, department and union representatives as required to find suitable modified work for all employees requiring accommodation related to illness or injury.

  • Maintain accurate accommodation stats and data.

  • Manage the Short Term and Long Term Disability Program, including liaising with short term disability adjudicators.

  • Assist employees in navigating the application process.

  • Provide status updates on claims to all required parties.

  • Monitor usage of the program and implement appropriate procedures when abnormal usage is discovered.




Education & Experience

  • Diploma in Disability Management

  • Knowledge of WorkSafe BC Act

  • Progressive claim management experience

  • Experience in the mining industry is preferred,

  • Possess a valid Class 5/7N British Columbia driver’s license and have access to personal

transportation.



Required Skills

  • Strong problem-solving skills and analytical skills

  • Self-motivated and team orientated individual with strong communication skills, above average computer literacy and the ability to maintain confidentiality. 

  • Required to meet the pre-employment testing requirements,

  • Demonstrate the eligibility to work in Canada.



Working Conditions

  • Work includes manual dexterity to use desktop computers and peripheral devices, 

  • Occasional exposure to hazardous environments with the requirement of wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), 

  • Occasional exposure to uncomfortable conditions associated with the work environment such as noise and working in dusty and wet environments. 

 

Salary Range

$87,930.00 - $97,700.00 per annum
