The Opportunity:

Hudbay Minerals Inc. is seeking a Gas Fitter at our Copper Mountain Mine in Princeton, BC. This position is a 5x2, Monday to Friday, day shift schedule with a compressed work schedule option.

Please note that this opportunity is NOT a fly-in-fly-out position.

Gas Fitter

 Location

Hudbay - Copper Mountain Mine, located near the town of Princeton, British Columbia at the center of the scenic Similkameen Valley. Princeton is a community-oriented town with a diverse offering of activities, especially for those who love the outdoors.  Princeton is also in close proximity to both the city of Vancouver and the Okanagan.

Summary

Reporting to the Site Services Supervisor, the Gas fitter is responsible for safely performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks to optimize and ensure the HVAC system’s reliability and to contribute to the performance of the Site Services team. 

Responsibilities  

• Ensures site compliance with mining regulations and follows Copper Mountain Mine site’s safety, quality, and environmental standards in all aspects of work,
• Observes Occupational Health and Safety Act, Mines Act, and Copper Mountain SOPs,
• Installing and maintaining gas lines and associated components for existing and new

equipment,

• Drafts detailed sketches for pipe and equipment fabrication and installation, as required,
• Performing routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting equipment, as

well as checking and replacing parts like belts and filters on fixed HVAC systems,

• Identifying and resolving issues with HVAC systems with the support of a contract HVAC technician,
• Maintaining accurate records of maintenance and repairs,
• Performs other responsibilities related to the Journeyperson Pipefitter as required or as assigned by the Mill Mechanical Supervisor.

Education & Experience

• Interprovincial Red Seal Plumbing Certification required,
• B Gas fitter ticket required,
• Experience with plumbing and heating systems considered an asset,
• Possess a valid Class 5/7N British Columbia driver’s license and have access to personal transportation.

• Demonstrated aptitude in reading and interpreting diagrams, schematics, drawings, manuals, and specifications,
• Strong work ethic, capable of performing tasks with minimal supervision,
• Have high regard for personal safety and the safety of company property and employees,
• Able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously,
• Ability to work well under pressure and handle strict deadlines,
• Determined manual dexterity to use power and hand tools,
• Required to meet the pre-employment test requirements,
• Demonstrate the eligibility to work in Canada.

Working Conditions

• Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position,
• Work is performed in a combination of environments including heat and cold,
• This position may be exposed to elements such as noise, dust, odors, fumes, and oils.
• Capable of working at heights and in confined spaces,
• Will be required to be clean-shaven.

Rate of Pay

$ 54.16/Hour
