 The Opportunity:

Hudbay Minerals Inc. is seeking Haul Truck Drivers at our Copper Mountain Mine in Princeton, BC. This position is a 7x7, 12-hour shift, Day / Night shift schedule.

Please note that this opportunity is NOT a fly-in-fly-out position.

Location

Copper Mountain Mine is located near the town of Princeton, British Columbia at the center of the scenic Similkameen Valley. Princeton is a community-oriented town with a diverse offering of activities, especially for those who love the outdoors.  Princeton is also in close proximity to both the city of Vancouver and the Okanagan.

Summary

Reporting to the Mine Operations Supervisor, the Haul Truck Driver is responsible for operating a 240-ton haul truck.

Responsibilities 

• Operates 240-ton haul trucks in a safe and efficient manner,
• Conducts pre-trip safety inspections and reports and maintenance requirements or concerns,
• Communicates effectively with all team members,
• Maintains good housekeeping practices on equipment,
• Assists in general mine labour, when needed,
• Performs any other responsibilities related to the Haul Truck driver position as required or as assigned by the Mine Operations Supervisor.

Education & Experience

• High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED),
• Must have safe rigging or be able to obtain certification,
• Minimum of 2-5 years previous experience operating haul trucks or large equipment, Pipefitting/fusing, tailings facility experiences preferred,
• Possess a valid Class 5/7N British Columbia driver’s license and have access to personal transportation.

• Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills,
• Have high regard for personal safety and the safety of company property and employees,
• Ability to learn, be trained, and follow instructions and standard operating procedures.

Working Conditions

• Frequent exposure to uncomfortable conditions associated with the work environment such as noise and working and driving in all weather conditions,
• Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position, sitting for a prolonged period of time, climbing up stairs.

Other Requirements

• Successful completion of pre-employment screening requirements and drug & alcohol testing,
• Provide proof of a valid Class 5/7N driver’s license,
• Demonstrate eligibility to work in Canada.

Rate of Pay

$41.02/hr.
