The Copper Mountain mine currently produces approximately 100 million pounds of copper equivalent per year. With a future mill expansion and the integration of New Ingerbelle, the Copper Mountain Mine is expected to produce approximately 140 million pounds of copper equivalent per year over the first 20 years of its 32-year mine life based on reserves. The Opportunity:
Hudbay Minerals Inc. is seeking for Heavy Duty Equipment Operator at our Copper Mountain Mine in Princeton, BC. This position is a 7x7, 12-hour, day and night shift schedule.
Please note that this opportunity is NOT a fly-in-fly-out position.

Heavy Duty Equipment Operator
Location
Copper Mountain Mine, is located near the town of Princeton, British Columbia at the center of the scenic Similkameen Valley. Princeton is a community-oriented town with a diverse offering of activities, especially for those who love the outdoors. Princeton is also in close proximity to both the city of Vancouver and the Okanagan.
Summary
Reporting to the Mine Operations Supervisor, the Heavy-Duty Equipment Operator is responsible for full oversight of operating heavy-duty equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and graders to excavate, move, load, and grade earth, rock, gravel, and other materials during construction and related activities.
Responsibilities
- Operates heavy-duty equipment, such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and graders in accordance with the mine procedures and standards,
- Performs daily pre- and post-trip equipment inspections and reports any needed repairs on broken or improperly working equipment,
- Conducts all activities safely and following all Copper Mountain Mine safety requirements and SOPs,
- Performs other responsibilities related to the Heavy-Duty Equipment Operator role as required or as assigned by the department head.
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED),
- Must be signed off on excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and graders,
- Possesses a valid Class 5/7N driver’s license and has access to personal transportation,
- Required to meet pre-employment testing requirements.
Required Skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills,
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision,
- Possess a solid understanding of maximizing production while minimizing contamination,
- Able to learn from others and adopt best practices while maintaining a strong focus on safety, integrity, and reliability.
- Ability to learn, be trained, and follow instructions and standard operating procedures.
Working Conditions
- Work environment includes exposure to noise, vibrations, and dust, and will require working alone with minimum supervision,
- Exposure to working outdoors in all weather conditions, operating a light vehicle at our operations, in various weather conditions and terrain, including winter driving,
- Regular exposure to lifting and moving items and equipment up to 50 pounds,
- Work will require climbing on equipment and under equipment occasionally in wet muddy conditions,
Rate of Pay
$42.29/hr. - $43.73/hr.
