The Copper Mountain mine currently produces approximately 100 million pounds of copper equivalent per year. With a future mill expansion and the integration of New Ingerbelle, the Copper Mountain Mine is expected to produce approximately 140 million pounds of copper equivalent per year over the first 20 years of its 32-year mine life based on reserves. The Opportunity:
Hudbay Minerals Inc. is seeking a Mill Maintenance Scheduler at our Copper Mountain Mine in Princeton, BC. This position is a 5x2 schedule.
Please note that this opportunity is NOT a fly-in-fly-out position.

Location
Copper Mountain Mine is located near the town of Princeton, British Columbia at the center of the scenic Similkameen Valley. Princeton is a community-oriented town with a diverse offering of activities, especially for those who love the outdoors. Princeton is also in close proximity to both the city of Vancouver and the Okanagan.
Summary
Reporting to the Mill Maintenance Planning & Scheduling Supervisor, the Mill Maintenance Scheduler is responsible for producing a schedule for approved work orders that will identify the plan and resource requirements for every non-break-in task to be completed by the Target Start Date.
Responsibilities
- Practices safe work behaviors and supports the Copper Mountain Mine safety culture through participation in daily and monthly safety meetings and initiatives,
- Adhere strictly to PPE requirements in all areas while on mine property,
- Follow all Company policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures (SOPs),
- Executes the Schedule Work element of the Work Management process.
- Complies with quality specifications and authority levels set out in the documentation.
- Schedules approved work orders for execution prior to the Target Start Date.
- Reviews daily the work order status to schedule newly approved work, assist in setting an integrated schedule, and track upcoming work.
- Identifies and escalates all critical issues that impede the successful procurement of resources allowing the scheduling of work orders for completion by their Target Start Date.
- Works collaboratively across departments to ensure the proper communication of timing and impact of scheduled tasks.
- Plans tasks to minimize the demand for resources and the impact on operating performance without exceeding the Target Start Date for work completion.
- Performs any other responsibilities related to the Scheduler role as required or as assigned by the department head,
Education & Experience
- Minimum of three (3) years of scheduling/planning experience in maintenance industry, preferably mine/mill processing related,
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience with a computerized maintenance planning/scheduling system (IBM Maximo),
- High level of proficiency in computer applications,
- Experience using a scheduling software such as MS Projects or others considered an asset,
- Possess a valid Class 5/7N British Columbia driver’s license and have access to personal transportation.
Required Skills
- Able to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, coupled with exceptional interpersonal skills,
- Solid understanding of all processes of the Mill, including crushing, grinding, flotation, dewatering, tails disposal, and fresh & reclaim water pumping,
- Sound knowledge of the main components of each system and how they interact as they can realize synergies in work packages and optimize downtime opportunities,
- Strong comprehension of both, the principles of preventative maintenance and maintenance planning,
- Able to work efficiently and in a safe manner without supervision,
- Able to work collaboratively with other team members in a positive manner,
- Must work well in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and possess a strong work ethics,
- Required to meet pre-employment testing requirements.
Working Conditions
- Frequent exposure to a team environment with regularly scheduled and ad-hoc meetings,
- Regular exposure to sitting at a computer doing work online,
- Work involves performing duties in a combination of environments,
- Occasional exposure to elements such as noise, dust, odors, fumes, and oils.
Rate of Pay
$100,000 – 109,000 / annum
