The Copper Mountain mine currently produces approximately 100 million pounds of copper equivalent per year. With a future mill expansion and the integration of New Ingerbelle, the Copper Mountain Mine is expected to produce approximately 140 million pounds of copper equivalent per year over the first 20 years of its 32-year mine life based on reserves. The Opportunity
Hudbay Minerals Inc. is seeking a Mine Engineer, Short Range Mine Planner at our Copper Mountain Mine in Princeton, BC. This position is a 7X7, 12 Hour Shift, day shift rotation.

POSITION
Mine Engineer, Short-Range Mine Planner
LOCATION
Copper Mountain Mine is located near the town of Princeton, British Columbia at the center of the scenic Similkameen Valley. Princeton is a community-oriented town with a diverse offering of activities, especially for those who love the outdoors. Princeton is also in close proximity to both the city of Vancouver and the Okanagan.
JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Senior Engineer – Short Range Planning, the Short-Range Planner plays a vital role guiding daily and weekly mine production at Copper Mountain Mine. This role requires close collaboration with the Operations and Technical Services teams to deliver high-quality, actionable mine plans which deliver safe and reliable production.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Champion a safe work environment by ensuring all plans comply with company programs and both Mines Act and the Health, Safety and Reclamation Code for Mines in British Columbia,
- Develop and optimize daily and weekly mine plans which sequence the mines loading, hauling, drilling and blasting to ensure ore feed to the mill and achieve forecasted production,
- Act as the primary planning contact for the operations team, providing timely and effective solutions to emerging challenges,
- Present and clearly communicate weekly mine plans to management and operational stakeholders Lead and participate in daily and weekly production meetings to review plan adherence, resolve challenges, and coordinate upcoming activities,
- Reconcile mine performance against the plan to identify and recommend opportunities for improvement,
- Assist in mine design optimization to enhance operational efficiency and production,
- Monitor spatial compliance to ensure the mine plan is executed according to design,
- Coordinate with other departments to align the mine plan with site objectives,
- Perform other responsibilities as required to support the Mine Engineering team.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering,
- Registered or eligible for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC) as an EIT or professional member,
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in the mining industry, preferably open pit,
- Proficiency with computer based mine design software,
- Proficient user of Computer Applications, including Google Workspace Word, and Excel,
- Possess a valid Class 5 British Columbia driver’s license and have access to personal transportation.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills,
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate data into operational insights,
- Motivated self-starter with a problem-solving mindset,
- Detail and results-oriented with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Good computer skills and the ability to learn and adapt to new software quickly,
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills,
- Ability to work collaboratively with other team members in a positive manner,
- Commitment to safety, teamwork, and operational excellence.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work involves a set work schedule on-site at Copper Mountain Mine, 7x7 rotation, 12-hour days,
- Exposure to uncomfortable conditions associated with the work environment such as noise, dust, and working in all weather conditions,
- Regular exposure to sitting at a computer in an office-based setting,
- Work includes lifting or moving up to 50lbs,
- Work consists of a team environment with regularly scheduled and ad-hoc.
SALARY RANGE
$95K - $115K / Annum
