The Copper Mountain mine currently produces approximately 100 million pounds of copper equivalent per year. With a future mill expansion and the integration of New Ingerbelle, the Copper Mountain Mine is expected to produce approximately 140 million pounds of copper equivalent per year over the first 20 years of its 32-year mine life based on reserves. The Opportunity:

 

Hudbay Minerals Inc. is seeking a Mine Maintenance Planner at our Copper Mountain Mine in Princeton, BC. This position is a 5x2, Monday to Friday, day shift schedule.

 

Please note that this opportunity is NOT a fly-in-fly-out position.

Mine Maintenance Planner

 

Location

Copper Mountain Mine is located near the town of Princeton, British Columbia at the center of the scenic Similkameen Valley. Princeton is a community-oriented town with a diverse offering of activities, especially for those who love the outdoors.  Princeton is also in close proximity to both the city of Vancouver and the Okanagan.

 

Summary

Reporting to the Mine Maintenance Planning Supervisor, the Mine Maintenance Planner will be responsible for the safe execution of an effective maintenance planning program for the mining equipment fleet. The role will focus on coordinating the production needs of the mining operations with the maintenance and repair requirements of the equipment.

Responsibilities 

  • Work with team members in developing accurate maintenance plans including work scope and required capacities for all mining equipment at site,
  • Creates and fosters a respectful workplace and culture of continuous improvement,
  • Consistently execute a strong maintenance business process, including Predictive Maintenance and Preventive Maintenance programs, and equipment maintenance Best Practices,
  • Manage backlog to ensure work orders are planned with emphasis on safety and based on priority and required start date. Ensure work order users' statuses are properly maintained throughout the lifecycle of the work order,
  • Identify priorities working with Maintenance Planning Supervisor / Mine Maintenance Superintendents and then plan major equipment repairs / overhauls,
  • Maintain equipment tracking records, component tracking records and all work history,
  • Experience managing maintenance projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and coordinating resources,
  • Monitor KPIs and actively strive toward plant targets. Work within assigned budgets and escalate to management should a budget be exceeded. Participate in Job reviews and defect elimination processes as required,
  • Provide detailed plans/forecasts for mine engineering department to co-ordinate mining/maintenance activities,
  • Maintain regulatory required inspection schedule (fire suppression, NDT,etc),
  • Embrace a strong commitment to safety and environmental protection as top priorities, and ensure compliance with all corporate, governmental and site safety and environmental policies, procedures, and regulations.

 

Education & Experience

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent,
  • Red Seal Heavy Duty Technician Certificate,
  • Minimum of five (5) years related planning experience in heavy industry with mobile mining equipment,
  • Proficient user of Google Workspace, Word, and Excel.
  • Previous mobile equipment planning experience is an asset.

 

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to present facts clearly,
  • Show initiative to analyze and solve problems,
  • Demonstrate mechanical aptitude and understanding of preventative maintenance,
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret operations and repair manuals,
  • Knowledge of mobile mining equipment is considered an asset,
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Project and Maximo is considered an asset,
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new software quickly,
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills,
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other team members in a positive manner.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Work consists of a team environment with regularly scheduled and ad-hoc meetings,
  • Required to meet pre-employment testing requirements,
  • Occasional exposure to sitting at a computer doing work online,
  • Frequent exposure to uncomfortable conditions associated with the work environment such as

noise and working in dusty and wet environments.

 

Salary Range

$109,366.87 / Annum
