The Copper Mountain mine currently produces approximately 100 million pounds of copper equivalent per year. With a future mill expansion and the integration of New Ingerbelle, the Copper Mountain Mine is expected to produce approximately 140 million pounds of copper equivalent per year over the first 20 years of its 32-year mine life based on reserves. The Opportunity:
Hudbay Minerals Inc. is seeking a Mine Maintenance Supervisor at our Copper Mountain Mine in Princeton, BC. This position is a 7x7, 12 hours schedule, day shift rotation.

Mine Maintenance Supervisor
Location
Copper Mountain Mine is located near the town of Princeton, British Columbia at the center of the scenic Similkameen Valley. Princeton is a community-oriented town with a diverse offering of activities, especially for those who love the outdoors. Princeton is also in close proximity to both the city of Vancouver and the Okanagan.
Summary
Reporting to the Mine Maintenance General Foreman, the Mine Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and coordination of the Mine Maintenance team, ensuring that scheduled maintenance, mechanical availability, and reliability on the shovels and drills meet budgeted target. Responsibilities will include the identification and correction of potential work problems and health and safety issues.
Responsibilities
- Ensures site compliance with mining regulations and follows the Mine site’s safety, quality, and environmental standards in all aspects of work,
- Follows Occupational Health and Safety, Mines Act, and Copper Mountain Mine’s standard operating procedures (SOPs),
- Oversees work of mechanics, welders, electricians, apprentices, and labourers,
- Develop maintenance personnel to create a learning environment for our apprentices and our employees,
- Identifies, investigates, corrects, and documents potential environmental and safety problems,
- Establishes methods to meet work schedules and coordinates work activities with other departments,
- Resolves work problems and recommends measures to improve productivity and product quality,
- Trains staff in job duties, safety procedures, and the Company policies and procedures,
- Completes performance evaluations on direct reports and provides regular feedback,
- Performs any other responsibilities related to the Mine Maintenance Supervisor role as required or as assigned by the department head.
Education & Experience
- Red Seal Trade Certification,
- Current BC Mine Supervisor Certificate,
- Minimum of 5 to 10 years of varied maintenance experience within the mining industry with at least three (3) years in a supervisory role,
- High level of proficiency with Computer Applications,
- Possess a valid Class 5 British Columbia driver’s license and have access to personal transportation.
Required Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, coupled with exceptional interpersonal skills,
- Competent in filling out forms including transmittals, warehouse vouchers, timecards, expense forms and investigation forms,
- Proven leadership and team-building capabilities and the foresight to recognize and overcome any potential challenges while effectively supervising the hourly staff and independent contractors,
- Promotes a positive work environment and addresses issues when brought forward,
- Must work well in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and possess a strong work ethic,
- Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with key business partners, and internal customers,
- Must have the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc.,
- Strong negotiation and prioritization skills,
- Ability to attend and conduct presentations,
- Required to meet pre-employment testing requirements.
Working Conditions
- Team environment with regularly scheduled and ad-hoc meetings,
- Work includes manual dexterity to use desktop computers and peripheral devices,
- Occasional exposure to hazardous environments with the requirement of wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE),
- Regular exposure to noise, dust, and adverse weather conditions.
Rate of Pay
$120K - $130K / annum.
