The Copper Mountain mine currently produces approximately 100 million pounds of copper equivalent per year. With a future mill expansion and the integration of New Ingerbelle, the Copper Mountain Mine is expected to produce approximately 140 million pounds of copper equivalent per year over the first 20 years of its 32-year mine life based on reserves. The Opportunity
Hudbay Minerals Inc. is seeking a Mine Operations Superintendent at our Copper Mountain Mine in Princeton, BC. This position is a 5x2, Monday to Friday Schedule (4x3 schedule available).

Location
Copper Mountain Mine is located near the town of Princeton, British Columbia at the center of the scenic Similkameen Valley. Princeton is a community-oriented town with a diverse offering of activities, especially for those who love the outdoors. Princeton is also in close proximity to both the city of Vancouver and the Okanagan.
Summary
Reporting to the Mine Operations Manager, this position is responsible for overseeing and leading the Mine Operations department functions including drilling, blasting, loading, haulage, support equipment and mine training.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure safe mining operations that adheres to the BC Mines and Reclamation Code and Copper Mountain Standard Operating Procedures,
- Actively participates in creating a safe and efficient operation by facilitating crew meetings, visible felt leadership, workplace inspections, and hazard identification,
- Ensure mining operations adheres to the Copper Mountain Mine environmental policies and procedures,
- Review and update Standard Operating procedures as required,
- Ensure effective day-to-day management of open pit operations including drill and blast, load and haul and dump and pit services,
- Coordinate open pit capital projects as directed by the Mine Operations Manager,
- Ensure effective training of mine operations personnel and site mobile equipment operations training,
- Ensure mining operations are productive and efficient; fully utilizing the dispatch system capabilities to maximize equipment productivity at the lowest cost per tonne mined,
- Achieve the mine’s annual production and cost budget,
- Assist with the development of the annual budget,
- Support mine engineering to ensure mine plans are well-developed and achievable,
- Support mine maintenance to ensure equipment availability and reliability are achieved through preventative maintenance and scheduling,
- Promote and foster an excellent working relationship with other departments and external interests,
- Ensure continuous improvement and value-creating initiatives are identified and implemented in Mine Operations.
Education & Experience
- Degree in Mine Engineering or a related field,
- A minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in medium to large scale open pit operations and engineering roles with progressing career advancement,
- P. Eng designation or ability to register with EGBC as a Professional Engineer is considered an asset,
- Holds or able to obtain Open Pit Shift Boss ticket in British Columbia,
- Previous management experience with proven leadership abilities,
- Mine rescue and blasting certifications are considered an asset,
- Valid driver’s license.

Working Conditions
- Work involves a set work schedule on-site at Copper Mountain Mine, Monday to Friday,
- Work may require manual dexterity required to use desktop computers and peripherals,
- Occasional exposure to fluctuations in sounds, temperature, noise, and vibration levels,
- Overtime and weekend work may be required,
- Some travel may be required,
- Required to meet pre-employment testing requirements.
Salary Range
$162,700.00 – $180,800.00 / annum
