The Copper Mountain mine currently produces approximately 100 million pounds of copper equivalent per year. With a future mill expansion and the integration of New Ingerbelle, the Copper Mountain Mine is expected to produce approximately 140 million pounds of copper equivalent per year over the first 20 years of its 32-year mine life based on reserves. The Opportunity
Hudbay Minerals Inc. is seeking a Permitting Coordinator at our Copper Mountain Mine in Princeton, BC. This position is a 5x2, Monday to Friday, day shift schedule.

Permitting Coordinator
Location
Copper Mountain Mine, is located near the town of Princeton, British Columbia at the center of the scenic Similkameen Valley. Princeton is a community-oriented town with a diverse offering of activities, especially for those who love the outdoors. Princeton is also in close proximity to both the city of Vancouver and the Okanagan.
Summary
Reporting to the Regulatory Compliance Superintendent, the Permitting Coordinator is responsible for providing project planning, coordination, field, and technical support to Copper Mountain Mine permitting and regulatory compliance team. This key role provides an opportunity to work with an evolving team and plays an important role in the Company’s strategic goals of long-term Growth and Environmental & Community Stewardship, through advancing permit applications and engaging and building positive relationships with the communities in which we operate.
Key Responsibilities
- Support site personnel in meeting permit and regulatory obligations,
- Coordinate and conduct a broad range of environmental permitting tasks such as baseline assessments, regulatory engagement, and application preparation,
- Project planning, managing and participating in field programs, reviewing data and reporting, and coordinating activities of consultants, mine personnel, and equipment necessary to complete the projects,
- Perform quality control on internal and external reporting to ensure consistency across disciplines,
- Assist with the delivery of project requirements as they relate to scope, cost and schedule,
- Coordinate meetings and communications related to permitting activities with project teams and site management as needed,
- Review and evaluate contracts for work to be performed by consultants and outside contractors,
- Promote environmental awareness and standards relating to environmental programs to employees and contractors to minimize any risk of negative impacts to the environment,
- Inform, involve, and engage key internal and external stakeholders appropriately; develop and maintain positive relationships and represent Copper Mountain Mine positively in the community,
- Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders,
- Perform other duties as required.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Biological or Earth Sciences; equivalent combination of education and experience in related field of study may be considered,
- 2-5 years of experience with mine site or field experience in permitting, environmental assessments, and monitoring,
- Minimum 2 years of related work experience in the mining industry preferred,
- Possess valid Class 5 driver’s license.

- Proficient computer skills, with advanced knowledge of Google Suite, Microsoft Office applications (Power Point, Word, Excel) and ability to learn new software,
- Required to meet pre-employment testing requirements.
Working Conditions
- Work consists of a team environment with regularly scheduled and ad-hoc meetings,
- Frequent exposure to sitting at a computer doing work online,
- Role may operate in a potentially stressful environment caused by constant requests from several people causing uncertainty and ambiguity,
- Work may require the employee to be physically capable of working outside on difficult terrain and in all weather conditions,
- Work will require operating a light vehicle at our operations, in various weather conditions and terrain, including winter driving.
Salary Range
$80K - $90K / annum.
