The Opportunity

Hudbay Minerals Inc. is seeking a Production Coordinator at our Copper Mountain Mine in Princeton, BC. This position is a 5x2, Monday to Friday, day shift schedule.

Production Coordinator, Mill Operations

 

Location

Copper Mountain Mine, is located near the town of Princeton, British Columbia at the center of the scenic Similkameen Valley. Princeton is a community-oriented town with a diverse offering of activities, especially for those who love the outdoors.  Princeton is also in close proximity to both the city of Vancouver and the Okanagan.

 

Summary

Reporting to the Mill Operations Superintendent, the Production Coordinator is responsible for supporting mill operation supervisors’ needs and for the safe and efficient organization of production resources during shutdown. The production Coordinator supports the requests to mill maintenance and procurement while troubleshooting emerging process issues and demonstrating a strong personal commitment to safety and the environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Stands as a courageous safety leader by promoting and supporting the creation of a strong safety culture and safe practices and leading by example,
  • Support production supervisors in troubleshooting operational issues in a collaborative way with Maintenance and Metallurgy personnel,
  • Identifies operational deficiencies, implements changes necessary to improve productivity, lower production costs, and enhance safety,
  • Liaises with procurement for replenishment of all required supplies and raw materials to guarantee their onsite availability,
  • Coordinates with Maintenance, Procurement, and Metallurgy teams on prioritizing activities,
  • Support company policies, legislative laws, and environmental compliance,
  • Conducts audits and develops programs to improve efficiency and reduce costs,
  • Addresses safety concerns and recommend the best methods of completing tasks,
  • Participates in accidents and incidents investigations, and management of change initiatives,
  • Act as production supervisor to alleviate coverage if needed,
  • Performs any other responsibilities related to the production coordinator position as required or as assigned by the department head.

 

Education & Experience

  • Hold a High School Diploma (British Columbia Certificate of Graduation),
  • Current Shiftboss Certificate,
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in a mineral processing facility, preferably in an open pit or mining/milling copper/gold operations,
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience working at a large tonnage Mine in a supervisory role, or technical role,
  • Possess a valid Class 5/7N British Columbia driver’s license and have access to personal transportation.

 

Required Skills

  • Must have excellent organizational skills,
  • Working knowledge of control systems, Maximo (ERP) system as an asset,
  • Details and results-oriented with the ability to prioritize work, and adhere to deadlines,
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule,
  • Required to meet pre-employment testing requirements.

 

 Working Conditions

  • Work consists of a team environment with regularly scheduled and ad-hoc meetings,
  • Frequent exposure to sitting at a computer doing work online,
  • Occasional exposure to fluctuations in sounds, temperature, noise, and vibration levels,
  • Role will operate under challenging conditions requiring multi-tasking and timely decision making.

 

Salary Range

$110K - $140K / annum.
