The Opportunity:

 

Hudbay Minerals Inc. is seeking a Red Seal Pipefitter at our Copper Mountain Mine in Princeton, BC. This position is a 7x7, 12-hour shift, Day shift schedule.

 

Please note that this opportunity is NOT a fly-in-fly-out position.

Red Seal Pipefitter

 

Location

Copper Mountain Mine is located near the town of Princeton, British Columbia at the center of the scenic Similkameen Valley. Princeton is a community-oriented town with a diverse offering of activities, especially for those who love the outdoors.  Princeton is also in close proximity to both the city of Vancouver and the Okanagan.

 

Summary

Reporting to the Mill Maintenance Supervisor, Red Seal Pipefitter is responsible for safely performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks to optimize equipment and system availability and to contribute to the performance of the Mill Maintenance team.

 

Responsibilities 

  • Ensures site compliance with mining regulations and follows Copper Mountain Mine site’s safety, quality, and environmental standards in all aspects of work,
  • Observes Occupational Health and Safety Act, Mines Act, and Copper Mountain SOPs,
  • Studies blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the type of pipe and tools to use and lay out the sequence of tasks,
  • Drafts detailed sketches for pipe and equipment fabrication and installation, as required,
  • Repairs, adjusts, fabricates, and maintains piping systems within the Mill,
  • Measures, cuts, threads, lays out, fits, cuts, and installs metal, plastic, and fiberglass pipes, valves, and fittings,
  • Uses testing equipment to check systems for leaks,
  • Provides guidance and coaching in the training of apprentices,
  • Performs other responsibilities related to the Journeyperson Pipefitter as required or as assigned by the Mill Mechanical Supervisor.   

 

Education & Experience

  • Interprovincial Red Seal Pipefitter Certification,
  • At least 1 year of industrial experience, preferably in mining,
  • Overhead crane, Aerial Work Platform, and Rigging Certificate are considered an asset,
  • Welding experience is considered an asset,
  • Pipe fusing tickets considered an asset,
  • Experience with pipe system layout and pipe fitting fabrication including elbows, wyes, and tees,
  • Possess a valid Class 5/7N British Columbia driver’s license and have access to personal transportation.

 

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:

  • Demonstrated aptitude in reading and interpreting diagrams, schematics, drawings, manuals, and specifications,
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills,
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others in a positive manner and in a diverse environment,
  • Possess strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills,
  • Possess a solid mechanical ability/aptitude,
  • Self-motivated and able to work alone or with minimal supervision,
  • Required to meet pre-employment testing requirements.  

 

Working Conditions:

  • Frequent exposure to uncomfortable conditions associated with the work environment such as working in noisy and dusty environments,
  • Repeated exposure to vibrations, and chemicals, and will often require working alone with minimum supervision,
  • Work includes working in heavy industrial environments; this may have conditions that include adverse temperature conditions, both hot and cold; in and/or around moisture; walking on slippery
  • and/or rough, uneven surfaces, in confined spaces; at heights; and involves climbing ladders and stairs,
  • Exposure to working outdoors in all weather conditions, operating a light vehicle at our operations, in various weather conditions and terrain, including winter driving,
  • Regular exposure to lifting and moving items and equipment up to 50 pounds,
  • Work requires to be clean-shaven.

 

Salary Range

$112K/ Annum
