The Copper Mountain mine currently produces approximately 100 million pounds of copper equivalent per year. With a future mill expansion and the integration of New Ingerbelle, the Copper Mountain Mine is expected to produce approximately 140 million pounds of copper equivalent per year over the first 20 years of its 32-year mine life based on reserves. The Opportunity:

 

Hudbay Minerals Inc. is seeking a Reliability Engineer at our Copper Mountain Mine in Princeton, BC. This position is a 5x2, Monday to Friday, day shift schedule.

 

Please note that this opportunity is NOT a fly-in-fly-out position.

Reliability Engineer

 

Location

Copper Mountain Mine is located near the town of Princeton, British Columbia at the center of the scenic Similkameen Valley. Princeton is a community-oriented town with a diverse offering of activities, especially for those who love the outdoors.  Princeton is also in close proximity to both the city of Vancouver and the Okanagan.

 

Summary

Reporting to the Senior Reliability Engineer, the Mine Reliability Engineer's primary function is to minimize the business impact due to critical equipment downtime and by maximizing uptime and minimizing asset life cycle cost. Focus will be to monitor and evaluate the health and performance of mine mobile support equipment fleet, which include but not limited to - Haul trucks, Shovels, Drills, wheel loaders etc.

 

Responsibilities 

  • Performing asset prioritization to identify key focus areas to reduce cost and failure frequency,
  • Developing and optimizing maintenance strategies for critical and high priority assets,
  • Creates and fosters a respectful workplace and culture of continuous improvement,
  • Identifying and monitoring equipment KPIs such as Availability, Reliability, MTBF, MTTR, Cost/hr. etc.,
  • Facilitating root cause analysis workshops, drive the implementation of corrective actions,
  • Optimizing asset maintenance strategies using the principles of Reliability Centered Maintenance,
  • Defining major component benchmarks, define opportunities to increase intervals and reduce cost,
  • Acting as the owner of down time data, ensure data integrity and quality to support reliability analysis,
  • Analyzing failure reports provided by rebuild shops and equipment OEM's, to ensure corrective actions are being implemented to prevent repeat failures,
  • Leading and develop the predictive maintenance program utilizing technologies such as vibration, NDT, oil analysis...etc.,
  • Ensuring compliance with the regulations for several programs such as lifting devices, equipment certification, etc.

 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience,
  • High Competency level with the Reliability Centered Maintenance methodology,
  • Proficiency in conducting failure analysis and leading failure investigation workshops [required],
  • Familiarity with condition monitoring techniques such as oil analysis, vibration analysis,
  • Strong prioritization, critical thinking, risk management and strategic planning skills [required],
  • Ability to influence and promote positive reliability culture change [required],
  • A working knowledge of Google Suite, Microsoft word and Excel.

Working Conditions

  • Work involves a set work schedule on-site at Copper Mountain Mine, Monday to Friday,
  • Work consists of a team environment with regularly scheduled and ad-hoc meetings,
  • Frequent exposure to sitting at a computer doing work online,
  • Exposure to dust and temperature fluctuations,
  • Occasional exposure to fluctuations in sounds, noise, vibration levels.

 

Rate of Pay

$95K - $110K/Annum
