The Copper Mountain mine currently produces approximately 100 million pounds of copper equivalent per year. With a future mill expansion and the integration of New Ingerbelle, the Copper Mountain Mine is expected to produce approximately 140 million pounds of copper equivalent per year over the first 20 years of its 32-year mine life based on reserves. Hudbay Minerals Inc. is seeking a Senior Human Resources Advisor at our Copper Mountain Mine in Princeton, BC. This position is a 4x3, day-shift schedule.

Location

Copper Mountain Mine is located near the town of Princeton, British Columbia at the center of the scenic Similkameen Valley. Princeton is a community-oriented town with a diverse offering of activities, especially for those who love the outdoors. Princeton is also in close proximity to both the city of Vancouver and the Okanagan.

 

Summary

 

Reporting to the Human Resources Superintendent – Employee Relations, the Senior Human Resources Advisor is an integral member of the Human Resources team and is responsible for providing strategic HR support to the site, ensuring consistency in the application of policies and procedures. To be a true business

partner in aligning employees to the Company’s goals and vision.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Act as a courageous safety advocate by promoting and supporting a strong safety culture at Copper Mountain Mine
  • Lead site investigations, ensuring consistency in addressing workplace issues and/or concerns as they arise. This includes working with the ACE committee to address workplace issues or concerns
  • Consult with the HR Director, Employee Relations Superintendent, and department heads on findings and/or recommendations following the conclusion of investigations
  • Develop a system that will provide integrity, timely and relevant information flow, openness, and transparency
  • Understand current and relevant legislation to maintain company compliance
  • Support the review and revision of HR policies to ensure they support business objectives and legislation. This includes educating site Leadership and the workforce on these policies
  • Manage the probationary review process and supports the annual performance review process. This includes working with leadership to address ongoing performance issues or concerns as they arise
  • Lead the administration of the Substance Abuse Policy, facilitating treatment recommendations and ensuring employee compliance to the monitoring agreement
  • Provide ongoing coaching and mentoring to all levels of supervision on various Human Resources related matters
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR support on site focused on effectiveness, efficiency, and process simplification
  • Support employee terminations, ensuring compliance with audit requirements
  • Mentoring the team, ensuring consistent application of Company policies and procedures, thus fostering
  • alignment with Hudbay values and practices
  • Participate in ongoing training and learning opportunities, as well as HR projects and initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Education & Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience,
  • Minimum 5 years of HR generalist experience,
  • CPHR/ CHRP designation or working towards is considered an asset,
  • Experience in the mining industry or heavy industry is ideal, Strong computer system aptitude and experience working with various types of software,
  • Previous experience working with an HRIS system, including an HRIS implementation is considered an asset,
  • Experience in Employee/Labour Relations, Training & Development and Performance Management.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to personal transportation.

  • Cross-cultural awareness with an understanding and sensitivity to the challenges associated with differences in cultural and economic backgrounds.
  • Self-directed with the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Committed team player able to collaborate well with others in a meaningful and impactful manner.
  • Strong time management skills to accomplish a variety of assignments with conflicting priorities and competing demands.

 

Working Conditions

 

  • Work involves a set work schedule on-site at Copper Mountain Mine, Monday to Friday,
  • Exposure to dust and temperature fluctuations,
  • Occasional exposure to fluctuations in sounds, noise, vibration levels,
  • Work includes working near others with a high degree of social interaction,
  • Regular exposure to a team environment,
  • Frequent exposure to sitting at a computer doing work online.

Salary Range

$106,470 - $118,300 / annum
