The Copper Mountain mine currently produces approximately 100 million pounds of copper equivalent per year. With a future mill expansion and the integration of New Ingerbelle, the Copper Mountain Mine is expected to produce approximately 140 million pounds of copper equivalent per year over the first 20 years of its 32-year mine life based on reserves. The Opportunity:

Hudbay Minerals Inc. is seeking a Senior Supervisor, Mine Operations at our Copper Mountain Mine in Princeton, BC. This position is a 7X7, 12-hour shift; Day Shift/Night Shift rotation.

POSITION

Senior Supervisor, Mine Operations

LOCATION:

Copper Mountain Mine is located near the town of Princeton, British Columbia at the center of the scenic Similkameen Valley. Princeton is a community-oriented town with a diverse offering of activities, especially for those who love the outdoors.  Princeton is also in close proximity to both the city of Vancouver and the Okanagan.

JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Mine Operations Superintendent, the Senior Supervisor, Mine Operations provides full oversight of day-to-day mine operations, including providing work assignments/direction, time tracking, administration, and support through communication and feedback to crew/team members. Ensuring mine operations are conducted in a safe manner that ensures maximum production at minimum cost.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Demonstrates and participates in a safe work environment, ensuring compliance with CMM’s Health, Safety, and Environmental Programs and the BC Mines Act,
• Adheres to all health safety, and environmental requirements and regulations,
• Ensure effective day-to-day management of open-pit operations including drill and blast, load and haul, dump, and pit services,
• Scrutinizes daily operating variables to achieve and improve upon production targets,
• Ensures that production issues and opportunities are addressed through regular communication with internal stakeholders, such as Engineering, Mine Maintenance, Mill Operations, and other site departments,
• Develops an engaged, motivated, and effective operating team through leadership, dialogue, and coaching,
• Enforces adherence to the company policies, standards, and procedures,
• Ensures quality Flash Reports, SLAMs, and Accident/Incident investigations are completed in a timely fashion,
• Completes performance evaluations on direct reports and provides regular feedback,
• Promotes consistency between shifts in all aspects of the mine (safety, housekeeping, training, and workforce utilization),
• Provides mentorship and guidance to developing team members/supervisors,
• Performs any other responsibilities related to the Supervisor, Mine Operations role as required or as assigned by the department head.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Current BC Shiftboss Certificate,
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a supervisory role,
• High level of proficiency with computer applications and computer-based training/investigation tools,
• Experience with Modular Fleet Management System or similar,
• Possess a valid Class 5/7N British Columbia driver’s license and have access to personal transportation.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, coupled with exceptional interpersonal skills,
• Competent in managing workforce vacation and coverage scheduling, workorders, and investigation related forms,
• Must work well in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and possess a strong work ethic,
• Proven management and team-building capabilities and the foresight to recognize and overcome any potential challenges while effectively supervising the hourly staff and independent contractors,
• Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with key business partners, and internal customers,
• Required to meet pre-employment testing requirements.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Work requires working in heavy industrial environments; this may have conditions that include adverse temperature conditions, both hot and cold; in and/or around moisture; walking on slippery and/or rough, uneven surfaces, in confined spaces; at heights; and involves climbing ladders and stairs,
• Exposure to working outdoors, operating a light vehicle at our operations, in various weather conditions and terrain, including winter driving,
• Regular exposure to lifting and moving items and equipment up to 50 pounds,
• Team environment with regularly scheduled and ad-hoc meetings.

SALARY RANGE

$130K - $140K / Annually
