The Copper Mountain mine currently produces approximately 100 million pounds of copper equivalent per year. With a future mill expansion and the integration of New Ingerbelle, the Copper Mountain Mine is expected to produce approximately 140 million pounds of copper equivalent per year over the first 20 years of its 32-year mine life based on reserves. The Opportunity:

 

Hudbay Minerals Inc. is seeking a Warehouse Supervisor at our Copper Mountain Mine in Princeton, BC. This position is a 7X7, 12-hour, day shift schedule.

 

Please note that this opportunity is NOT a fly-in-fly-out position.

Location

Copper Mountain Mine is located near the town of Princeton, British Columbia at the center of the scenic Similkameen Valley. Princeton is a community-oriented town with a diverse offering of activities, especially for those who love the outdoors.  Princeton is also in close proximity to both the city of Vancouver and the Okanagan.

 

Summary

Reporting to the Materials Management Superintendent, the Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership to all aspects of warehouse operations and providing supply chain support to the Mine and Mill departments to ensure the timely delivery of parts and materials required to support production at the Copper Mountain mine site.

 

Responsibilities 

  • Ensures care of physical assets including warehouse building, and all equipment,
  • Provides hands on leadership and mentoring to the employees of the warehouse,
  • Leads by example and builds and champion a progressive safety culture,
  • Implements systems where employees, equipment and processes are protected against hazards,
  • Coordinates required employee training and ensure training is up to date and current,
  • Responds to all employee issues,
  • Oversees annual physical count of warehousing inventory,
  • Monitors/analyzes monthly goals and work with Management to plan and implement strategies to accomplish goals,
  • Plans and implements the overall supply chain strategy,
  • Collaborates with CMM operations teams,
  • Determines key supply chain key performance indicators (KPIs),
  • Provides solutions for process improvements,
  • Identifies process bottlenecks and implement solutions in a timely manner;
  • Provides training and performance evaluation of direct reports,
  • Collaborates with Finance and Operations to strategize and determine best vendors and distributors,
  • Builds and maintains professional relationships with vendors,
  • Performs any other responsibilities related to the Warehouse Supervisor position as required or as assigned by the department head.

 

Education & Experience

  • Red seal parts technician certificate is considered an asset,
  • A minimum of 5 years’ warehouse and or logistics experience, coupled with 3 years’ experience in a supervisory role,
  • Possess a valid Class 5/7N driver’s license and have access to personal transportation,
  • Forklift certification preferred,
  • Propane filling certification preferred,
  • Experienced in IBM Maximo work order and procurement process is considered an asset.

 

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of supply chain and inventory methodologies and general knowledge of mining, milling, smelting and refining processes,
  • Knowledge of warehousing and basic understanding of goods procurement,
  • Knowledge of supply chain management ERP systems (such as SAP S4 Hana,),
  • Ability to effectively lead and motivate a team,
  • Commitment to Health, Safety and Environment,
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written),
  • Creative problem solver and able to respond to various situations with appropriate urgency,
  • Sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on the company’s success,
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills,
  • Excellent working knowledge of Google Workspace,
  • Required to meet pre-employment testing requirements.

 

Working Conditions

  • Frequent exposure to a team environment with regularly scheduled and ad-hoc meetings,
  • Regular exposure to sitting at a computer doing work online,
  • Work includes manual dexterity to use desktop computers and peripheral devices,
  • Occasional exposure to hazardous environments with the requirement of wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Work includes lifting or moving up to 50lbs,
  • Occasional exposure to elements such as noise, dust, odours, fumes, and oils.

 

Rate of Pay

$120K - $130K / annum
