Hudbay (TSX, NYSE: HBM) is a copper-focused mining company with three long-life operations and a world-class pipeline of copper growth projects in tier-one mining-friendly jurisdictions of Canada, Peru and the United States. Hudbay’s operating portfolio includes the Constancia mine in Cusco (Peru), the Snow Lake operations in Manitoba (Canada) and the Copper Mountain mine in British Columbia (Canada). Copper is the primary metal produced by the company, which is complemented by meaningful gold production. Hudbay’s growth pipeline includes the Copper World project in Arizona, the Mason project in Nevada (United States), the Llaguen project in La Libertad (Peru) and several expansion and exploration opportunities near its existing operations.

 

Purpose of Role:

Collaborates with corporate and site Organizational Effectiveness/Human Resources Leads to develop and implement Hudbay’s people management processes and culture initiatives.

 

Role Accountabilities:

 

Performance Management: Supports Hudbay’s performance management cycle to ensure consistent application and a clear understanding of the process.

  • Provides training on the performance management process for new HR leads and directly to corporate employees as needed.
  • Regularly reviews and updates performance process training materials to incorporate best practices and feedback from stakeholders.
  • Clearly communicates schedules, key milestones and process updates to stakeholders.
  • Monitors adherence to the performance management process and ensures timely completion of each step.

 

Employee Development & Mentoring: Utilizes Hudbay’s internal processes and external arrangements to foster employee growth and development.

  • Identifies and coordinates individual development opportunities, including external training, coaching and 360-degree feedback.
  • Supports the design and implementation of Hudbay’s training programs, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Collaborates with managers and employees to create and implement effective individual development plans.
  • Manages relationships with third-party vendors and ensures the quality of their services.
  • Maintains accurate talent development records and keeps an up-to-date roster of external coaches and coaching engagements

 

Talent Reviews & Succession Planning: Partners with and advises stakeholders to ensure that talent reviews and succession planning processes effectively support the talent pipeline at all organizational levels.

  • Coordinates with HR site leads to ensure consistent and timely completion of talent reviews.
  • Supports the execution of the talent review process for the corporate office and maintains thorough records.
  • Updates succession planning templates for use during management discussions.

 

Engagement & Culture: Develops, implements and promotes employee surveys and action plans to enhance employee engagement and strengthen our organizational culture. 

  • Supports the company-wide engagement survey process including setup, communications, and analysis of results.
  • Is a key resource for the sites as the expert for the online survey platform.
  • Supports the development and promotion of Hudbay’s Culture Plan, ensuring alignment with organizational values and goals.

Equity, Diversity & Inclusion: Advances Hudbay’s EDI goals and promotes effective EDI practices.

  • Supports the planning and execution of EDI initiatives, including the Speaker Series.
  • Partners with HR to track EDI demographics and report on progress.
  • Attends industry forums/events related to EDI and presents key learnings to the corporate EDI committee.
  • Manages additional EDI projects as assigned. 

 

Integration of New Sites: Ensures the smooth integration of new sites into Hudbay’s talent development processes.

  • Develops and provides the necessary tools and resources to facilitate the effective transition of new sites into Hudbay’s processes.
  • Offers ongoing support to new sites to address any integration challenges and ensure alignment with organizational practices.

 

Onboarding Tools/Resources: Enhances the onboarding experience for new employees through continuous improvement of program materials.

  • Collaborates with corporate and site HR to regularly update and improve ONEHudbay onboarding materials.
  • Ensures onboarding resources are comprehensive, up-to-date, and aligned with best practices.

 

  Experience and Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent experience. 
  • 5 years of demonstrated expertise in implementing talent development strategies and processes
  • Certification in Equity, Diversity & Inclusion is a valuable asset.

 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proven ability to address equity, diversity and inclusion issues for underrepresented groups through the execution of EDI initiatives
  • Familiar with relevant legislation related to discrimination and equity.
  • Effective at building relationships and influencing others to support talent development and EDI goals, at all organizational levels.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports, presenting findings, and engaging with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficient in analyzing data to track the effectiveness of talent development and EDI programs. Must have strong Excel and PowerPoint skills for data manipulation, reporting and presentations.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, including setting objectives, timelines and ensuring deliverables.

 

Travel:

Limited travel required. Occasional site visits and conference attendance, as needed.

 

Working Arrangements:

Role is eligible flexible work arrangements, allowing you to balance 50% of your time in the office with 50% time working remotely.
